More than 3,000 employees of online retailer Amazon.com Inc. in the states of New York, California and Washington received layoff notices as part of the company’s second wave of large-scale layoffs, MarketWatch reports.

2,320 workers in the cities of Seattle and Bellevue in Washington, 504 people in four California cities and another 299 in New York state will lose their jobs, according to documents Amazon sent to local regulators. For employees in Washington and California, the last day of work will be March 19, and for workers in New York, it will be April 18.

In California, the layoffs will affect programmers, project managers, researchers and recruiters. In other states, specific positions are not specified.

Amazon CEO Andy Jesse announced in early January that the online retailer would cut more than 18,000 jobs – more than the previously planned 10,000. The cuts will affect a total of 1.2% of the company’s global workforce.

Amazon shares fell 1.5% in additional trading on Tuesday. Over the past three months, the company’s capitalization has fallen 20% to $995 billion.
