The EU authorities are discussing a new sanctions package that may be introduced against Belarus for supporting Russia’s actions in Ukraine, Bloomberg has read the documents.

If the sanctions are approved, Belarus will be subject to an extension of the restrictive measures already taken against Russia. In particular, we are talking about:

A ban on exports of dual-use goods and technologies used for military purposes and capable of increasing the country’s industrial potential; sanctions against exports of oil, steel products, gold and coal; trade restrictions on luxury goods, investments and the provision of certain services; restrictions against the republic’s aviation and energy sectors, as well as on “key sources of income.”

Similar to the anti-Russian sanctions, the anti-Belarus sanctions include exemptions for medicines, agricultural and food products, as well as the admission of related financial transactions of sub-sanctioned individuals.

The European Union fears that Belarus imports among dual-use goods, in particular, elements of medical equipment, which can then be used for the production of drones.

At the same time, Berlin and a number of other European capitals are opposed to equating Moscow and Minsk as objects of sanctions policy, found out RMF radio. According to its data, the FRG believes that until the Belarusian army has not engaged in hostilities with Ukraine, it is necessary to distinguish between the “aggressor” and its supporter.
