The number of detected cases of coronavirus infection in the world reached 428 million 285 thousand 196 as of Wednesday morning, according to data from the Worldometer portal, which specializes in statistics on major world events. Since the virus began spreading, 5 million 925,485 people have died worldwide after contracting COVID-19.

Countries with more than 20 million infections still include the US, India and Brazil.

The United States remains the leader in the number of infections and deaths, with 80,270,583 COVID-19 infections and 963,371 deaths.

The second place in the number of infected is occupied by India, where the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19, reached 42 million 867 thousand 31, and the number of deaths from the consequences of infection with the virus – 512 thousand 652.

The third place in the number of detected cases of COVID-19 is occupied by Brazil, where 28 million 351 thousand 876 people were infected, of whom 645 thousand 534 died.

The mortality rate per 1 million of the world’s population was 760.2 as of Wednesday morning. In the United States per 1 million inhabitants died 2 thousand 883 people, India – 366, Brazil – 3 thousand 2.
