McDonald’s plans to temporarily suspend the chain’s restaurants across Russia from March 14, RIA Novosti reports citing the company’s press service. At the same time, the office will continue to operate in normal mode.

The press service added that, to their regret, at the moment McDonald’s in Russia can not guarantee uninterrupted operation of the main directions, maintenance of the key assortment in the enterprises of the network and high quality standards to which the guests are accustomed.

It is also reported that McDonald’s will spend up to $50 million a month to fulfill its obligations to Russian employees and suppliers.

“The McDonald’s system in Russia employs more than 62 thousand people, and there are about 100 thousand more at suppliers’ enterprises. Taking care of employees is the company’s main priority, so all employees, both corporate and at franchisee enterprises, remain with the company and will continue to receive full salary based on average monthly annual income,” the press service specified.

It was also noted that the company will retain all social benefits and guarantees that the company provides to its employees. In addition, McDonald’s is considering options for using temporarily closed premises for organizing volunteer support centers.

“As a socially responsible company, McDonald’s is currently considering options for using the temporarily closed premises to organize volunteer support centers,” the company explained.
