Russian businessman and co-owner of Novatek Gennady Timchenko will leave the company’s board of directors, RIA Novosti reports. The company’s materials show that the businessman was not included in the list of approved candidates for voting at the annual shareholders’ meeting.

The European Union in late February included Timchenko in the sanctions lists, also sanctions against the businessman were imposed by the UK.

The approved list includes nine candidates, while the current composition of the Board of Directors of Novatek consists of eight people. It is proposed to elect Irina Gaida and Emmanuel Kide, director of the energy center of the Moscow School of Management Skolkovo, as new members.
