The introduction of an embargo on Russian oil supplies will have a huge impact on Europe. This was stated by the representative of the Polish government on strategic energy infrastructure Piotr Naimski, his words are quoted by TASS.

He recalled that Russian oil supplies to the US amounted to about 8% of US consumption.

“The US can replace this volume at any time with its own production or by releasing its huge reserves. Therefore, the impact of this decision on the American economy is minimal, while in Europe it is huge,” Naimsky said.

Earlier, the head of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs Leonid Slutsky said that Europe has begun to have an epiphany regarding the policy of the United States and NATO. Thus, according to him, it is impossible to replace 100% Russian oil and gas in the EU, despite the fact that there are, for example, “Qatari gas, Algerian hydrocarbons.” Slutsky noted that they can not cover the need of Europe in oil and gas even half.

On March 10, it became known that the European Union will gradually abandon the purchase of oil, gas and coal from Russia. The relevant EU declaration says that faced with growing instability, strategic competition and security threats, the community will reduce dependence on fuel from Russia and develop a new model of growth and investment for 2030.
