Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin believes that the acquisition of Twitter (NYSE:TWTR) by billionaire Ilon Musk will have a negative impact on the social networking market in the future. He wrote about this on his Twitter account.

The creator of the second-capitalization cryptocurrency Vitalik Buterin said in response to Ilon Musk’s reported acquisition of social media platform Twitter for $43 billion that he has nothing against such a desire of the owner of Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) and SpaceX – but the takeover of the social network operator could set the wrong example for other big investors.

“I don’t mind Ilon running Twitter (at least compared to the status quo), but I disagree with the general enthusiasm for rich people/organizations hostile to social media takeovers. For example, imagine a foreign government with ethical issues doing this,” Buterin wrote.

The Efirium co-founder added that if a shareholder has a 5% stake in a company, he is unable to have a strong impact on its development. If his stake increases to 50%, however, his ability to control increases more than 10 times, which is alarming for the future of the company.
