Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov and Belarusian Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich have signed protocols on amendments to the intergovernmental agreement on natural gas supplies to Belarus, the Russian Energy Ministry reported.

“The documents provide for the transition to gas payment in Russian rubles and determine the terms of gas price formation from April to the end of 2022,” the ministry said.

The Belarusian Energy Ministry, in turn, reports that the signed terms apply to gas supplies from Russia and the markup of Gazprom’s subsidiary Gazprom Transgaz Belarus when selling to wholesale buyers until the end of 2022.

“The heads of the Ministries of Energy of Belarus and Russia signed a protocol on amendments to the intergovernmental agreement on the procedure for forming prices (tariffs) for the supply of natural gas to Belarus and its transportation through gas pipelines located in its territory, dated November 25, 2011, as well as a protocol on amendments to the intergovernmental agreement on the terms of purchase and sale of shares and further activities of Beltransgaz (now Gazprom Transgaz Belarus) dated November 25, 2011,” the ministry said in a statement.

“We note the consistent development and high potential of bilateral cooperation between our states in all areas in the energy sector. The gas industry, of course, remains the flagship of our cooperation. The Russian side continues to fully meet its commitments to supply energy resources, the relevant programs for the formation of united markets are being implemented,” Shulginov said after the signing.
