The Central Bank proposed to prohibit the purchase of foreign shares on IIS, said at the “Conference of Institutional Investors” head of the brokerage association NAUFOR Alexei Timofeev. RBC writes about it.

The new draft law of the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank on individual investment accounts (IIA) prohibits the purchase of securities of foreign issuers on them, Frank Media writes. It follows from the justification that the Russian budget should not encourage investment in foreign assets. On the other hand, the annual contribution limit has been increased from 1 to 3 million rubles.

On April 21, Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma Committee on Financial Market, came up with the same initiative.

“Now there is no discussion of a ban on the acquisition of foreign financial instruments and foreign currency on IIS,” the regulator’s press service said at the time.
