Production of passenger cars in the Russian Federation in April 2022 collapsed 6.8 times (by 85.4%) compared to April last year to a record low of 19.9 thousand cars, follows from the data of the Federal State Statistics Service of the Russian Federation (Rosstat).

Thus, the figure fell below the level of covid April 2020, when only 30 thousand passenger cars were produced in Russia due to lockdowns, and was half (53.1%) below the level of March-2022.

In January-April this year, Russian car plants, which continued to operate after the suspension of local production of a number of foreign concerns, produced about 264 thousand passenger cars, which is 47.4% or almost 2 times less than a year earlier.

In April 2022, 12.3 thousand trucks were produced in Russia (-30.43% YoY and -13.2% vs. March). Over 4 months their production, as follows from Rosstat data, amounted to 52.5 thousand units, which is by 5.9% and less than in January-April 2021.

The output of buses with permissible maximum mass over 5 tons in April slightly exceeded 1 thousand units (-15.8% YoY and +9% to March). At the end of 4 months it increased by 1.5%, up to 3.8 thousand units.

Production of internal combustion engines for automobiles in April fell YoY by 59.5%, to 13.2 thousand units (-37.2% vs. March). Since the beginning of the year they were produced over 113 thousand units (+5.8%).
