Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corp. is recalling about 2,700 electric SUVs of the bZ4X model due to the threat of spontaneous unscrewing of wheels.

According to the company, unscrewing of wheels in electric cars of this model may be due to loosening of bolts fixing them.

The recall covers 2,200 cars sold in Europe and about 260 cars from the US.

The company also added that it continues to investigate the cause of the defect and advised drivers not to get behind the wheel until repairs are made.

The bZ4X electric SUV was the first electric car from Toyota, which has been building a reputation for reliability in hybrid vehicles over the past two decades. According to the company, hybrid cars are the best alternative to combat global warming.
