Turkey will hold talks with the Russian delegation in Ankara this week to achieve a discount of more than 25% to the gas price, Bloomberg reported citing senior Turkish officials.

The agency’s interlocutors explained that Ankara expects to achieve a discount on payments in 2023 and on part of the gas supplied in 2022, in which case the discount will be applied retrospectively. If the discount fails, Turkey will ask Russia to postpone gas payments until 2024.

Last year, Russia provided almost half of Turkey’s gas imports, which amount to 59 billion cubic meters per year, RBC writes.
