U.S. Baker Hughes is recalling its service engineers for key process equipment (gas turbines and compressors) from NOVATEK’s (MCX:NVTK) Yamal LNG and Gazprom’s (MCX:GAZP) Sakhalin-2 projects, as well as project engineers from NOVATEK’s Arctic LNG-2 project under construction, Kommersant reported.

The company is also halting all shipments of equipment for LNG projects in Russia, sources among the company’s Russian contractors told the publication. “Kommersant” interprets that this calls into question the further operation and commissioning of foreign equipment, as well as makes it impossible to supply spare parts for its repairs.

The U.S. company is tearing up the agreements despite the fact that there are no direct sanctions restrictions on the service and supply of gas turbines in Russia (the conclusion of new contracts is prohibited), and Gazprom and NOVATEK are not under direct U.S. or EU sanctions, the publication notes.
