The head of the European diplomacy, Josep Borrel, has said that the EU is not ready to discuss new sanctions against Russia yet, the Kommersant business daily has reported. He added that the EU will study the level of Belarus’ participation in Russia’s military operation in Ukraine in contact with the Belarusian opposition.

“Not today. We are reacting, continuing the procedure. Member states make proposals, they are studied, legal services are consulted, then we proceed to adoption. You can be sure that we have not stopped,” Josep Borrel told reporters while arriving at the EU foreign ministers’ meeting.

Borrel also said that a training mission for the Ukrainian military will be launched within two weeks.

“Today and tomorrow we will hold meetings of foreign and defense ministers that will focus on assistance to Ukraine. The EU is launching a training mission for the Ukrainian military in record time. The news from the front confirms that the EU’s strategy of extensive military assistance to Ukraine is the right one,” he said.
