Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:EA), one of the world’s leading developers of computer games, saw its Q3 fiscal 2023 revenue rise 5.1% to $1.881 billion from $1.789 billion, the company said in a statement. Meanwhile, the company’s net orders received in the past quarter fell to $2.34 billion from $2.58 billion a year earlier. Analysts surveyed by FactSet had on average forecast revenue of $1.93 billion and orders of $2.48 billion.

Electronic Arts’ net income rose 3.1-fold to $204 million, or 73 cents per share, in the October-December period, up from $66 million, or 0.23 cents per share, in the same period a year earlier.

The number of users of EA’s gaming network surpassed 650 million at the end of last quarter, the filing noted.

The company repurchased 2.6 million of its shares for $325 million during October through December. Over the past 12 months, that figure reached 10.2 million securities and $1.295 billion, respectively.

EA left its quarterly dividends at 19 cents per share. They will be paid on March 22, with the shareholder register scheduled to close on March 1.

EA expects Q4 earnings in the range of 5-20 cents per share, revenue of $1.7-1.8 billion and orders of $1.68-1.78 billion. Analysts’ average forecast for revenue is $2.13 billion and for orders $2.23 billion.

Meanwhile, the company lowered its full-year forecast for earnings to $2.97-3.11 per share from $3.11-3.34 per share, for revenue to $7.252-7.352 billion from $7.55-7.75 billion, and for orders to $7.07-7.17 billion from $7.65-7.85 billion.

EA’s stock price fell more than 10% in extra trading on Tuesday after the reports were released. The company’s capitalization increased by 1.9% (to $35.6 billion) over the past three months, while the Nasdaq Composite stock index rose 10.1% over the period.

EA is one of the world’s largest developers of interactive entertainment software. The company offers games both as a packaged retail product and as an online service delivered to consoles, personal computers, tablets and cell phones. Its best known products include FIFA 21, Madden NFL 21, Battlefield and Apex Legends.
