The European Union’s tenth package of anti-Russian sanctions should be ready by the end of February, it may include further restrictions on Russian media and disconnecting more banks from the SWIFT system, Reuters reports citing diplomats from Poland and Lithuania.

“They (diplomats) said that the tenth package of sanctions should be ready by February 24,” the agency said.

It is noted that Warsaw and Vilnius want restrictions on Russia’s nuclear sector, a ban on a number of media outlets, as well as disconnecting more banks from SWIFT and halting diamond trade. Diplomats are also calling for additional sanctions on Belarus.

However, as one diplomat noted, it is becoming “harder and harder to get the necessary unanimity in the EU” when discussing new sanctions.
