The European Commission (EC) has approved the deal on the purchase of American Microsoft Corp. company Nuance Communications Inc. specializing in voice recognition for $16 billion. The European regulator approved the deal without any conditions. The EC said in a statement that the deal between Microsoft and Nuance will not reduce competition and does not raise any concerns. Microsoft announced the purchase of Nuance in April this year, the amount of the deal, including the debt of the latter will amount to $ 19.7 billion.
Nuance, founded in 1992, is one of the pioneers of voice recognition technology. Its software was used to create a voice assistant Siri American Apple, which later switched to its own technology in this area. The deal has previously received approval from antitrust authorities in the US and Australia, and is currently being examined by UK regulators.
