The Hungarian authorities did not support the introduction of a cap on the cost of gas in the European Union, calling the decision harmful and dangerous, the country’s Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said. This is reported by the agency Prime.

The head of the ministry noted before the meeting of EU energy ministers that Budapest is against the price ceiling on “blue fuel”, as the decision will be harmful and dangerous for the energy security of the region.

He added that the limit could still be adopted, in which case the Hungarian authorities would face “another big battle” in Brussels to defend against the crisis.

The European Commission proposed to set a ceiling on the cost of “blue fuel” at 275 euros per megawatt-hour (about 95 cubic meters). In addition, the body proposed to form a mechanism for adjusting the gas market.
