Japan, following the European Union, is introducing another package of sanctions against Russia in response to the special operation in Ukraine, Lenta.ru reported.

Tokyo imposes additional restrictions on about 400 Russians, including MPs, and 20 organizations from Russia, including Sberbank and Alfa Bank.

As part of the new sanctions, Japan intends to freeze the assets of Sberbank and about 550 Russian individuals, Bloomberg reports. In addition, the country will impose a ban on new investments in the Russian economy.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced on Friday that Japan intends to impose an embargo on Russian coal, as well as a ban on imports of timber and vodka from Russia.
