Consumer prices in the capital for 2022 rose by 11.7%, said Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations Vladimir Efimov.

“At the end of 2022, inflation in Moscow amounted to 11.7% – this is lower than the previously forecasted 12.1%,” said Efimov, his words were quoted in the press service of the profile complex.

According to his data, in March last year against the background of consumer frenzy the cost of goods and services in the capital rose sharply, but in April prices began to correct. From July to October deflation was observed in the city. Its main reasons were the strengthening of the ruble exchange rate, stabilization of demand and increase in the supply of goods due to the growth of domestic production.

In November and December, inflation accelerated again due to the end of the season of low prices for fruit and vegetable products and increased consumer activity before the New Year. Average annual inflation in the capital for January – December last year was recorded at 12.9%, the press service of the complex added.

Over the year, food products in the capital rose in price by 9.4%, non-food – by 11.5%. The cost of services increased by 14.2%, reported in the Department of Economic Policy and Development of Moscow.

From products the strongest last year in the capital went up in price confectionery – by 22%, coffee and canned meat – by 19%. In the segment of non-food products the highest price growth was recorded for cars – 35%, washing machines – 25%, goods for animals – 23%. In the sphere of services, the fastest growth rates were observed in prices for foreign tourism – 75%, air transportation – 43%, insurance – 33%.

The biggest price decrease over the year was noted for lumber – by 19%, laptops – by 11%, TV sets – by 9%, smartphones – by 7%. The cost of railroad transportation became lower by 5%, vegetables became cheaper by an average of 3%, the department noted.
