Consumer prices in France in May 2022, calculated according to French standards, increased by 5.2% in annualized terms after growth of 4.8% in April, according to the final data of the National Statistics Office Insee. Relative to the previous month, prices rose 0.7%. The first indicator coincided with the previously announced dynamics. Earlier it was reported about the growth of the second indicator by 0.6%.

Acceleration of inflation is associated with the strengthening of price increases for energy, services, manufactured goods and food, Insee notes.

Core inflation, which excludes fluctuations in the cost of food and energy, rose to 3.7% year-on-year in May from 3.2% in April.

The pace of growth in the country’s energy prices accelerated in May to 27.8% from 26.5% a month earlier, services to 3.2% from 3%, food to 4.3% from 3.8% and manufactured goods to 3% from 2.6%. Tobacco prices fell 0.1%.

Consumer prices in France, harmonized with European Union standards, rose by 5.8% year-on-year in May. Thus, inflation accelerated from April’s 5.4% and renewed the maximum for the entire time of calculating the indicator. The indicator coincided with the previously announced data, as expected by experts polled by Bloomberg.
