Amazon is preparing to launch its own NFT platform this spring, Blockworks writes, citing its sources. The project is still in the development stage, but the company is likely to unveil its plans as early as April, the journalists said.

The US online retailer is considering launching blockchain games in which participants will be able to receive digital tokens, and plans to hold at least one eirdrop (free giveaway) of NFTs that will involve an artist, the article said.

Details about the NFT platform being developed are not yet specified, but two sources told reporters that it will be based on Amazon itself, rather than its popular cloud platform Amazon Web Services (AWS).

In early January, it became known that AWS web hosting has entered into a partnership with blockchain developers Avalanche, writes RBC. Web hosting will support the infrastructure and decentralized applications of the blockchain, which will facilitate developers to launch and manage the nodes of the network. The goal of the partnership is to accelerate the adoption of decentralized technologies by various businesses and government agencies.
