Mexico’s oil production, according to preliminary data, reversed the trend in May after declining for three months and increased by 0.6% against April, to 1.616 million bpd, according to the National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH). The country produced nearly 1.7 million bpd in the same period last year.

Including condensate, production in May amounted to 1.836 million bpd.

In December, the media, citing the head of the state oil company Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) Octavio Romero, reported that Mexico plans to reduce the volume of oil supplied abroad to 435 thousand b/s in 2022, and to reduce it to zero in 2023. The country seeks to create a full cycle of oil refining in the domestic market to refuse imports of petroleum products. In February-April, oil production decreased by 2.6% against January.

Average daily gas production in May reached 4.739 billion cubic feet (134.2 million cubic meters), down 0.5% from April.
