The volume of Russia’s investments in U.S. government securities in January 2022 increased compared to the previous month and amounted to $4.503 billion, TASS reported with reference to the documents of the U.S. Ministry of Finance.

At the same time, investments in long-term bonds sharply decreased – to $2 million compared to $102 million a month earlier. Short-term bonds accounted for $4.501 billion compared to $3.808 billion in December 2021.

Total investments were estimated at $2.409 billion in November 2021 and $3.72 billion in October.

Russia began to sharply reduce investments in U.S. government debt in the spring of 2018. In April 2018, their level fell from $96 billion to $48.7 billion, and in May – to $14.9 billion.
