Google’s Russian subsidiary Google plans to file for bankruptcy in an arbitration court, according to a notice on Federal Resource. The company’s notice says that since March 22 this year, Google “anticipates its own bankruptcy and the impossibility of fulfilling its monetary obligations”.

Google was fined a negotiable fine of over 7.2 billion rubles for failing to remove content banned in Russia under Roskomnadzor’s lawsuits. The company had to voluntarily pay the fine by March 19, but failed to do so. On April 29, bailiffs initiated enforcement proceedings to enforce the revolving fine.

Earlier this year, bailiffs seized Google’s assets in Russia to enforce court decisions on disputes with several Russian media holdings and media outlets. They demanded in court to unblock their Google accounts, including on the Youtube video hosting site.
