“Public Consumer Initiative” (PCI) filed lawsuits against automakers, including General Motors, Mercedes, Volkswagen and Toyota Motor, said the head of the organization Oleg Pavlov. He specified that we are talking about domestic legal entities, writes “Izvestia”.

OPI believes that foreign companies that have suspended work in Russia, violate the rights of consumers, as now people are not available to repair, maintenance and other services. The main demand of the organization is to stop enforcing the sanctions and resume the supply of all products, Pavlov said. Petitions have also been filed to seize the companies’ accounts and property to ensure the interests of consumers.

According to Pavlov, the first proceedings have already begun: a lawsuit against Toyota Motor LLC is being considered, in which the OPI stated that the company illegally stopped supplying cars, spare parts and components. Because of this, consumers no longer have the opportunity to eliminate manufacturing defects, replace the car free of charge, or bring it to the service for maintenance and repair, OPI points out.

Rospotrebnadzor supported the public activists: the actions of the companies “violate the rights and legitimate interests of an indefinite circle of consumers,” the agency’s conclusion says. In this regard, the Rospotrebnadzor department in the Moscow region supported the claims of the IPO as “based on the law and subject to satisfaction in full”.
