Swiss watch exports to the US rose year-on-year by 34.8% to 327.4 million francs, to Japan by 29.9% to 145.7 million, to the UK by 36.7% to 145.2 million, to Singapore by 27.2% to 138 million, to France by 89.5% to 125.9 million francs, While exports to Hong Kong fell by 3.4% to 190.4 million francs. These six countries accounted for 52.5% of the Swiss watch sales market in May. Overall, watch shipments to these six countries rose 28.7% to 1.073 billion francs.

In January-May, watch exports rose by 12.8% to 9.773 billion francs.

Switzerland’s trade surplus in May 2022 amounted to CHF 2 billion after CHF 3.6 billion in April, customs data showed.

In nominal terms, exports in May rose 1.2% from the previous month to 21.9 billion francs, while imports rose 10.3% to a record 19.8 billion francs. The volume of exports from Switzerland in real terms last month increased by 2.4%, imports – by 7.1%.
