The Central Bank of Russia has presented a modernized 100-ruble bill, changed the color design and landmarks placed on the banknote.

According to the Bank of Russia, the 100-ruble bill is dedicated to Moscow and the Central Federal District. The main image on the front side is a fragment of the Spasskaya Tower of the Moscow Kremlin with chimes. The Zaryadye Park, the Ostankino and Shukhov towers, the building of the Lomonosov Moscow State University on the Sparrow Hills are also depicted on the obverse side, Deputy Chairman of the Bank of Russia Sergey Belov told reporters.

On the reverse side is the Rzhev memorial to the Soviet Soldier. In the background is the Kulikovo Field museum-reserve, Belov added.

The modernized banknote is made in olive-orange color and contains a QR code leading to the page of the Bank of Russia, where the detailed information about the art design and authenticity features is placed.

Modernized banknotes will be put into circulation gradually, notes the Central Bank. Banknotes issued in 2022 are a legal means of cash payment in the territory of the Russian Federation and are obligatory for acceptance when paying for any types of goods and services without any restrictions, emphasizes the regulator. They will be in circulation on a par with the existing hundred-ruble bills of 1997, including modifications of 2001 and 2004.

The updated 100-ruble banknote contains a reinforced security complex similar to the 200-ruble bill.
