Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation Anton Kotyakov has announced an increase in the number of the unemployed registered in employment centers. “In the Russian Federation there is an increase in the number of unemployed registered in employment centers,” Kotyakov said at an extended meeting of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy. According to him, this situation has been observed since June, before this period the number of the unemployed was “in the corridor of 660-680 thousand.” “To a certain extent, we see that the tension in the labor market is gradually beginning to grow,” he added.

Kotyakov connected this situation, among other things, with the departure of a number of foreign companies from the Russian market. According to the minister, the government is taking measures to prevent the worsening of the situation on the labor market, which has already given certain results, but “the pressure on the business community continues.”

“We see that now there are two options for the exit of companies with foreign participation. In the first case, it is a change of ownership, (…) in this case we from the side of employment centers and subjects of the Russian Federation help the new owner to keep the staff, help to build technological chains, with retraining. But there are also examples when companies cease their activities, in this case, of course, we are more focused on working specifically with each citizen”, – he emphasized.
