For 2022 the number of unemployed in the capital decreased by 23% – to 28.1 thousand people, said Deputy Mayor of Moscow on economic policy and property and land relations Vladimir Efimov.

“By the beginning of this year, 28.1 thousand unemployed people were registered in Moscow. This is a record low figure for the last few years. On January 1, 2023, the unemployment rate in the capital amounted to 0.39 percent, which is the minimum value since February 2020,” said Vladimir Efimov, quoted in the message of the profile department

Stability of the labor market last year, despite sanctions and the departure of a number of major foreign companies, was ensured by a balanced policy in the field of employment, measures to support enterprises and businesses, as well as an active program to replace the production of foreign brands with goods from manufacturers from Russia and friendly countries.

According to the Department of Economic Policy and Development of Moscow, in January – December 2022, the largest difference between the number of hired and dismissed people was recorded in the field of computer and software development – 24.7 thousand people. In the research and development industry, 10.7 thousand more employees were employed than dismissed, in the housing and utilities sector – by 5.3 thousand, in the repair and installation of machinery and equipment – by 3.4 thousand, in the production of computers, electronics, optics – by 2.7 thousand.
