The United States continues to consider options for new sanctions against Russian Federation, it is possible that such measures could be adopted as early as this week, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Tuesday.

“Yes, it’s a possibility. For now, we continue to consider options, the process is underway,” she said, responding to a reporter’s question about whether the United States could announce additional sanctions against Russian Federation as early as this week.

Psaki also reported the results of US President Joe Biden’s videoconference with Western allies to discuss Russia and Ukraine.

“They discussed their diplomatic engagement and coordinated efforts to continue to endorse serious economic measures,” the White House spokeswoman said. She said the leaders agreed to continue to coordinate their position, including through the G7, the EU and NATO.

The leaders also discussed efforts to support Ukraine and reiterated their willingness to provide economic, security and humanitarian assistance.
