The US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has published a new general license dated March 24, which effectively removed Russian mineral fertilizers from possible sanctions. They have been added to the list of essential products along with agricultural products, medicines and medical devices, according to Kommersant.
According to the publication’s sources, the license issued allows any trade operations with the goods on the list. They reported. that the US decision can be considered an important signal.
“The document of the Ministry of Finance has an extraterritorial character, that is, it is likely to be followed by all U.S. allies,” – believe the interlocutors of the publication.
In their opinion, the reason for the U.S. decision was the deficit starting on the world market against the background of disruption of logistics of supplies from Russia.
