Tinkoff Bank will introduce a fee for servicing accounts in foreign currency from June 23, the bank said in a statement.

The change will affect card accounts in US dollars, euros, pounds sterling and Swiss francs. The bank will charge 1% per month for servicing such accounts with a balance over 1000 u.u. in the currency of the account. The fee will be deducted daily.

“This is a forced measure, it is due to the unreliability of foreign currency partners for Russia and is aimed at reducing the currency position of Tinkoff Bank,” a representative of the bank told Forbes.

The bank also reported that from June 23, it will be possible to open a savings account only in Russian rubles. Existing savings accounts in dollars and euros will be closed, the funds stored on them – transferred to customer accounts in the same currencies.

“For convenience until June 30, we cancel the commission for SWIFT-transfers”, – added in the bank.
