The United Arab Emirates has resumed oil supplies to Europe after local importers started refusing to buy Russian crude amid the special operation in Ukraine. Bloomberg writes about it with reference to the data of ports and ship tracking.
According to them, the oil tanker Moscow Spirit, hired by the French TotalEnergies, is carrying about 1 million barrels of oil from the UAE to the Dutch port of Rotterdam. TotalEnergies has also sent an oil supertanker to Egypt, likely to carry cargo to Europe as well, the agency noted.
The last time OEA sent oil to Europe was in May 2020, when a tanker carrying Das crude headed to Italy from Abu Dhabi. According to Reuters, this time the Moscow Spirit will load 1 million barrels of Murban crude at Abu Dhabi’s Jebel Dhana port before heading to the UK in early May.
More crude from the UAE (Murban, Das and Upper Zakum grades) will head to Europe in the coming months to replace Russian crude supplies falling out amid new sanctions, traders told Reuters. Global trade flows are “readjusting” to reflect changes in oil supplies from Russia, one said.
