Unemployment in the UK, calculated according to the methodology of the International Labor Organization (ILO), in July-September 2022 amounted to 3.6%, which is the lowest rate since mid-1974, according to data from the National Statistics Office (ONS) of the country. The figure was 3.8% in the 2nd quarter of this year.

The UK’s employment rate was 75.5% in Q3 as it was three months earlier.

In July-September there were 1.224 million unemployed, which is 228 thousand less than a year earlier and 70 thousand less than in February-July this year.

The number of jobs in the UK in July-September in annual terms increased by 147 thousand – up to 32.739 million. Compared to the previous three months, the number of employed people decreased by 53 thousand.

In October 2022, the level of registered unemployment (the share of Britons receiving unemployment benefits and at the same time actively looking for a new job) amounted to 3.9% as a month earlier.
