Volvo Group has started laying off staff in its Russian divisions to adapt to the changed conditions, the company’s press service told Interfax.

The conditions under which employees will be laid off and their number are now being determined by the management of Volvo Group’s Russian office. The press service does not specify which departments will be affected by the cuts.

At the same time, as emphasized by the press service, the company has not made a decision to leave the Russian market.

“The Volvo Group plant in Kaluga will continue to operate in the mode of temporary suspension of activities until a new decision is made. Employees of the plant at the moment continue to be in idle mode,” the press service said in a statement.

The plant in Karuga suspended operations in early March due to the inability to import auto components and parts.

Volvo Group implements several projects in the industrial park “Kaluga-South”, including Volvo Truck Plant, Volvo Truck Center Kaluga truck service center, Volvo Customs Department, Volvo Construction Equipment excavator plant, Volvo Group Cab Factory for production of cabins for Volvo and Renault trucks.
