The U.S. market rose Tuesday despite a steady rise in 10-year Treasury yields as corporate earnings continue to rise.

Investors were awaiting the release of Netflix’s latest data, which was due Tuesday evening after the close of trading.

The price of oil fell 5% for the day. World financial leaders will meet this week in Washington, D.C., for the spring meeting of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, which cut their forecast for global growth to 3.6% this year from 4.4% because of the impact of the conflict in Ukraine.

The 10-year bond yield rose to 2.9% on Tuesday. The Federal Reserve is expected to raise rates by an uncharacteristically large half-point next month in response to inflationary pressures, although the conflict in Ukraine remains a big unknown.

Although the S&P 500 is down 6% this year, investors seem to be ignoring the rate hike and seizing the opportunity to buy stocks of technology and other large companies.

S&P 500 companies including Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA), AT&T (NYSE:NYSE:T), and Procter & Gamble (NYSE:PG) will report this week. Current U.S. home sales data along with oil inventory data is also due out Wednesday morning.
